GG - 2.23 - The Wrath of Con

The Good and Bad of this episode...

BAD

- How frickin' annoying and pathetic is Dan Humphrey for ratting out on Serena TWICE.

- Lily really letting her daughter get arrested with a lie? And sure, it's some lame premise to set up for this coming flashback episode about Lily's youth.

- and really, you're going to prolong the wait right in the middle of a big load of information with a flashback ep. that looks retarded? I base this pre-criticism based solely on the preview at last week's ep ending.

And this picture?

Seriously, no one dressed like this in the Eighties. Lily's jacket is too tight and small and those colors combos didn't exist back then. Neither did her shoes. Her hair also isn't authentic for back then.

Her partner (what, her sister, right?) is a bit more realistic but looks very frumpish and not youthful. Blech.

Why can't people style an Eighties look authentically? I'm sure this ep will also be full of anachronisms (like The Wedding Singer movie). Again, someone should be able to keep track? And yes, I'm being a grumpy snob about it, but what's wrong with a little authenticity, man?!

GOOD

- Oh, one of the BEST Chuck & B. moments to surface in a long time! Last week's ep (Southern Gentlemen Prefer Blondes) had the fun moment, but this had the heart-wrenching one at the bar.

BTW, rumors have it that the Lily & Rufus spinoff is dead. If true, thank gawd. Was a horrible idea anyway since that couple blows. Can't we just follow Chuck and Blair and keep Serena on the side, along with all her mental escapades and boys on the side? What more do we need!

- And while I find Georgina (or maybe just because she's played by Michelle Trachtenberg) irritating, I'm glad they didn't try and keep us in suspense by revealing her return with her (lame), "the bitch is back" line. But will she really catch Poppy and return the money? Meh, we'll see. But I guess that's why it's part of the Good this time.

Also, CW, I LOVE the pictures you post on your (sad) site of GG, but really? Why post pictures of the upcoming episodes which tend to ruin any surprises to the show? SPOILER: Looks like Blair will be named Queen for the prom. Small potatoes, I know, but we also knew Georgina was at least back in town the week before based on the photos too. Just saying - is someone so lazy they can't keep track enough to maybe post the photos on the day the show airs?
