That article, very succinctly expresses why I now love Liam and will still love OASIS or whatever the f*ck they will be named.

LIAM GALLAGHER talks to ROLLING STONE about the future of the band
Check out the interview in full here, but in short, there will be a band post Noel and it won't be called Oasis.
Liam thinks Noel wanted out and used this opportunity to get out. (I'm inclined to agree because the reported rumors of what went down make it seem like a pretty shite reason to quit a band considering the stuff they'd already been through in the past.)
Frankly, I can't wait to see what Liam will bring to the table, especially if Andy Bell will be with him. Andy's penned some of my most favorite latter day Oasis tunes anyway (Turn Up the Sun, Keep the Dream Alive) so we shall see!!
The biggest dilemma for me is whether I should keep my current handle or not? Do I keep it as an ode to the past? Or move on to the future with whatever Liam will call his new band? :shurg: I guess I will wait and see.

OASIS - no more?

Since their debut in 1994, no one could say OASIS has been a band without problems. During one of their most successful tours and their big entrance into the American consciousness, a bustup between the Gallagher brothers had Noel literally disappear from the band which led to a cancellation of the US gigs. It was a big reason why they never got past the 90s rock band label where Americans only knew them for "Wonderwall" and "Champagne Supernova."
However, with Friday's news that Noel has quit the band, it's shocking only because it's the first time the announcement has come with an official statement from the maestro himself.
It's interesting that Noel distances himself even from the other band members with his latest words, which can make you wonder... well, a lot of things. But I won't go there until I hear some news from both sides.
I definitely think Noel will go solo. And if he's really on the outs with the band, I could see Liam continuing on as Oasis without his older sibling. Remember, this was Liam's band first. Noel came in and took over. Granted, it wouldn't be Oasis without Noel, but Liam could continue on. There is always the chance Liam could go solo too.
All in all, I'll watch both Gallaghers and see where the road takes them and where I may follow.
The big question is - can I keep my moniker OasisZealot? Ha ha.

A complaint about Oasis (shocker!)
Just read Noel's blog and saw the setlist for their gig in Sapporo that they played WHATEVER - first time in like 12 years. I don't understand why they can't mix it up more with the setlist when playing gigs in the U.S.?
I've read Noel complain that R Kid doesn't like to rehearse. But I wonder if they actually talk to each other about really mixing it up? Granted, I heart Liam but don't know him so I can't guarantee he meant it when he said he'd like to do some of their other classic songs. However, considering they don't really talk to each other, maybe that is the reason they aren't on the same page.
Could someone with clout in the Oasis camp maybe moderate an agreement for the two of them to consider playing their other good songs?

Where DO you go from here?!?!
On Dec. 4, 2008, I met Liam and Noel Gallagher at the Staples Center in L.A..
I was going to blog about it, but I realized that you can't really talk about the most personally profound moment in the life of a fan when it comes to meeting your musical idols.
Therefore, I will keep the thoughts to myself, and some of you will hear about it directly from me.
But it was truly momentous, I was truly unprepared (and a tad too tipsy), and of course I wish I had a do-over, but I will survive.
